Homeless Prevention addresses households who are imminently at risk of becoming homeless by diverting them away from emergency shelter into safe and stable housing. The point of Homeless Prevention is exactly that: to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless on the front end.
The state of Virginia has set very specific requirements for the administration of prevention funding. In order to be eligible for Homeless Prevention, one must have a previous experience of homelessness that can be documented AND must be currently living with family or friends (those living in their own rental/home do not quality).
If you believe that you or your client is eligible for Homeless Prevention, please complete or schedule a time to complete a Coordinated Assessment. If you have questions, leave a message at (434) 973-1234 ext 113 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
